چکیده

The copolymerization of bio-renewable β-myrcene or β-farnesene with styrene was examined using an ansa-neodymocene catalyst, affording two series of copolymers with high styrene content and unprecedented syndioregularity of the polystyrene sequences. The incorporation of terpene in the copolymers ranged from 5.6 to 30.8 mol % (β-myrcene) and from 2.5 to 9.8 mol % (β-farnesene), respectively. NMR spectroscopy and DSC analyses suggested that the microstructure of the copolymers consists of 1,4and 3,4-poly(terpene) units randomly distributed along syndiotactic polystyrene chains. The thermal properties of the copolymers are strongly dependent on the terpene content, which is easily controlled by the initial feed. The terpolymerization of styrene with β-myrcene in the presence of ethylene was also examined.

Engineering of Syndiotactic and Isotactic Polystyrene-Based Copolymers via Stereoselective Catalytic Polymerization.

This contribution presents an updated overview of the different copolymers containing stereoregular polystyrene blocks. Special emphasis is placed on syndiospecific and isospecific copolymerization of styrene with co-monomers (ethylene and α-olefins, conjugated and non-conjugated dienes, styrene derivatives, etc.). The catalytic systems involved are described and the polymerization mechanisms a...

One-pot synthesis of isotactic-capped syndiotactic polystyrene with a bimetallic homogeneous catalytic system

INTRODUCTION Polystyrene can be obtained in atactic (aPS), isotactic (iPS) or syndiotactic (sPS) form by a variety of catalytic systems1,2 and initiators. For instance, it is known that (pentamethylcyclopentadienyl)titanium derivatives activated by methylaluminoxane (MAO) afford a highly sPS, with %m (defined as meso diads content, calculated by 13C-nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR)) below the i...

Denture base polymers, poly methyl methacrylate improved using free radical copolymerization

Poly methyl methacrylate (PMMA) is the most common material used in Prosthodontics. Several studies indicate a breakdown of the number of very high resin bases after 2 to 3 years to avoid breaking bass and several attempts have been made, such as altering the chemical structure of resin by adding causes cross linking or copolymerization. The innovative method for improving the physical properti...

Stereoregular Brush Polymers and Graft Copolymers by Chiral Zirconocene-Mediated Coordination Polymerization of P3HT Macromers

Two poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) macromers containing a donor polymer with a polymerizable methacrylate (MA) end group, P3HT-CH2-MA and P3HT-(CH2)2-MA, have been synthesized, and P3HT-(CH2)2-MA has been successfully homopolymerized and copolymerized with methyl methacrylate (MMA) into stereoregular brush polymers and graft copolymers, respectively, using chiral ansa-zirconocene catalysts. Macr...
